Federal Court Decision Supports travelers Laptop Seizures Alexandria, VA (April 23) - The Association of Corporate Travel Executives (ACTE) has issued a warning to its members across the world - and only for the business - to limit the proprietary information of laptop when passage of a U.S. border, and then remove all personal data, including photos, finance and e-mail that you do not want to be examined by the authorities of border protection. The warning follows a decision by federal appealsPanel on 21 April 2008 giving customs officials the power to examine, copy and travelers use laptops - without reasonable suspicion. "ACTE amicus brief arguing that a traveler's laptop was essentially an intellectual property is not the same as baggage or goods presented," said Gurley. "The court agreed, and this decision will be a significant impact on business travelers who are unaware that their data might have caused the inspection."
